Wherever we might wake up whether it be in a big city or in a rural town we need to realize that paradise is not a far away utopia to be chased after but a tangible place here on earth right before our eyes.

Ancestral wisdom across cultures has taught me that the best times of the year to make changes in your kitchen are in autumn and in spring or whenever you have the time or opportunity. For over three decades I have led live groups during these powerful renewal seasons. This past spring I hosted my first 42 day online workshop in Spanish with great success. Technology is now allowing me to reach out and support people beyond a physical kitchen without losing the essence of my live workshops.

Do It Yourself

Most sprouts grow in 7 to 10 days. You can transform your kitchen counter if you begin to cultivate micro greens. Vegetables and salad greens take months to grow and require space and a good amount of soil. Micro greens can be grown in soil free mediums.

Sourcing

Sourcing good quality ingredients is the most time consuming challenge people face when they want to sprout.  One of the most valuable things that I teach people is how and where to shop. When we support small vendors we become part of the solution.   

New Ingredients

Why eat the same things day in and day out if you can add new condiments and ingredients to your diet? If you are looking for a bit of excitement, learn how to prepare new dishes and add new items and spice to your shopping list.  Learn a new culinary language.

Think Local

Now that I live in the tropics I eat a lot of coconut meat. When I lived in Oregon I ate a lot of walnuts and apples. When I lived in New Orleans I ate a lot of strawberries and okra. If we eat locally we will eat healthier and be able to support our local farmers and our community.

Slow Down

Much like meditation, the best time to begin to sprout is if you are in some sort of crisis or hungry for a change.

Do Something New

Just imagine that you are going to learn how to speak a new language. It is simple, but it will take some time and practice.
